But the reviewers found that the scientists could have used better statistical methods in analysing some of their data, although it was unlikely to have made much difference to their results. Amazingly, instead of being happy to provide the data, McIntyre was told that giving him access would upset the nations that provided it. When he pressed further, he had been told the data was lost. The green line represents Keith Briffa’s tree ring data. The graphic on the right shows Briffa’s data as it actually existed. He asked for the source data from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia (which held the records). Prof Hand was among a group of experts charged with investigating the “climategate” email scandal that engulfed the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) last year. Lord Oxburgh said the scientists at the research unit arrived at their conclusions “honestly and sensibly”.
However the review, led by Lord Oxburgh into the research carried out by the centre, found no evidence of “deliberate scientific malpractice”. He has sued National Review, the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Mark Steyn for criticizing him, a case he inevitably will lose. That was not the case with some previous climate change reports, where “inappropriate methods” had exaggerated the global warming phenomenon. It is hard to imagine a worse case of scientific fraud, but the history of alarmist “climate science” is rife with this kind of misconduct. He’s the most beloved player in the history of football. In the end, volume is what wins in fantasy football. At this point, the two lines’ data series diverge greatly: Mann’s “Hockey Stick” is perilously evident in red, but McIntyre’s black line (the one with more complete data) begins to trend downward at the end, showing a relative cooling of the planet’s surface during the last century until the 1980s, rising again and finally stabilizing at roughly the turn of the millenium.
If anything, McIntyre’s more complete data set seems to show that rather than being on the hot, high precipice of disaster, we are in a cooler valley of the planet’s normal warm-period routine. In the best-case scenario, they predicted that by 2030 poverty will decrease to a truly negligible level, affecting only 1.4 per cent of the planet’s population. The facts are unambiguous: despite public perceptions to the contrary, extreme poverty has declined significantly, to the point where its end may actually be in sight. His ball placement, overall, was much improved (yes, there are several throws the developmental QB would want back) and he showed a command of the offensive concepts in place. He said the graph, that showed global temperature records going back 1,000 years, was exaggerated – although any reproduction using improved techniques is likely to also show a sharp rise in global warming.
In 2008, Mann published another paper to back up his claims about the Hockey Stick. He agreed the graph would be more like a field hockey stick than the ice hockey blade it was originally compared to. But it’s all in the name of fun with plenty of safety features and even an onsite pro shop so you can outfit yourself like a true paintball warrior. Not to mention fast on his feet like Knighton. He used a much broader range of data (the more data, the better the statistical certainty), but all the regions used matched Mann’s selections. The data comes from tree-ring data, which is considered by climatologists to be among the more accurate methods of determining global mean temperatures before thermometric data (observed temperatures using thermometers) was available. McIntyre is also biased: He came to the project with the intent of disproving Mann’s research and comes with a skeptic’s background. Professor David Hand said that the research – led by US scientist Michael Mann – would have shown less dramatic results if more reliable techniques had been used to analyse the data. In my opinion, the systematic alteration of data by government agencies to make the past look cooler is just as bad.
In other words, if you look at a panel of actual temperature “proxies”, you would expect to see series that look pretty similar and consistent. The Soccer Manager series is getting another edition. Although climate scientists keep telling that defects in their “hockey stick” proxy reconstructions don’t matter – that it doesn’t matter whether they use data upside down, that it doesn’t matter if they cherry pick individual series depending on whether they go up in the 20th century, that it doesn’t matter if they discard series that don’t go the “right” way (“hide the decline”), that it doesn’t matter if they used contaminated data or stripbark bristlecones, that such errors don’t matter because the hockey stick itself doesn’t matter – the IPCC remains addicted to hockey sticks: lo and behold, Figure 1a of its newly minted Summary for Policy-makers contains what else – a hockey stick diagram.
Shogo Akiyama…why is he even on the roster if he doesn’t play with Winker out against righties? To understand 안전 메이저사이트 why, check out Steve McIntyre’s post at Climate Audit on Mann’s effort, along with others in the alarmist community, to bury the post-1960 tree ring data that contradicted Mann’s hockey stick. “The particular technique they used exaggerated the size of the blade at the end of the hockey stick. Had they used an appropriate technique the size of the blade of the hockey stick would have been smaller,” he said. I have a question for you: what does the business term “hockey stick” mean? In other words, absence of the Medieval warming in the Hockey Stick graph might simply mean tree ring proxies are unreliable, not that the climate really was relatively cooler. The Hockey Stick curve depicts a slightly meandering Northern Hemisphere cooling trend from 1000 A.D. If you couldn’t tell the above graph, linked from Climate Audit, is the now famous “Hockey Stick” graph that depicts global temperatures over the last roughly 2,500 years. He is controversial for several reasons: he invented the “hockey stick” graph, which was intended to show that recent warming trends were unprecedented, and has since been exposed as a hoax that misrepresents historic temperatures.
